      Hi Minion2,
I was quite good at science at school. I got B in my A level Biology. I think I have got better at it though. I think I have learnt to not focus on getting the answers right and more on what is interesting and how it fits together and that is very different. It is difficult when at school as the exam results are what matters. But for me I think I am now better at biology because I understand the underlying things.

Hi I enjoyed science at school so I think that helped as I put more effort in. I am always learning new things there is so much to learn out there. New ways of doing experiments, new information about microbes all sorts.

      Hi Minion2

I was OK, not great. But I enjoyed it, and was motivated to continue it. I would argue that I picked up most of my knowledge with time, as I became a much better student at university. Its such a different teaching and learning style that most people can really excel, even if they didn’t in school (like me!)

      Hope that helps!

      Hi Minion2,

When I was at school, I really loved science but I wasn’t great at it! It wasn’t until I got to study Biology and Chemistry for A levels that I realised that I was pretty good at biology but pretty awful in Biology which would explain my not so great GCSE Science mark! I got a B1 in Biology for A levels and a C1 in Chemistry (and boy did that C take a lot of work!!).

My grasp of biology has definitely improved over the years, but this is because I had great tuition at Uni and now because I love learning new things! I always make sure I learn at least one new thing a day….which is pretty easy when you’re doing a PhD because you are always learning new things!

When you think of a Scientist you might think, woah, they know A LOT! But you gota remember that we all started out exactly like you and we’ve just worked at increasing our knowledge through study and research! Both which you could very easily do too!! Do you want to keep studying science? What do you want to do when you finish school?

I hope we’ve managed to answer your question,

      Cat
