• Question: why can't crocodiles turn corners very well?

      Hi smartykate,

      I’m not a croc expert, but I imagine it’s because their bodies are so long and their legs are short. I think they are just like one of those long buses. Ever see one of those try and do a three-point turn? Imagine if you would that you are a croc. Tense your body and pretend that your arms start at your elbows and your legs start at your knees. You can get on the ground if you like (ask your teacher first!). Now put yourself in a corner. Remember crocs are really long and so won’t have as much flexibility as you and me. Now try and get out of the corner without bending your spine as much as you normally do and keep your limbs as short as you can? Do you find it hard?

      Crocs are really suited well for water and they don’t do so great on land, so that might be another reason they find it hard!

      I hope this helped. I’ve realised through this whole competition that I need to brush up on my knowledge of a LOT of things!!
