      Hi iisnutworth,
I would say the person who has influenced me the most (in science) is my supervisor, I have worked with him a lot and he has influenced a lot of my work. He is great and he has always encouraged me to have my own ideas and to try different things. He Has always supported me with my ideas and helped me to develop them. He taught me a lot of what I know and I wouldn’t be the same scientist with out him!
I am also influenced by other scientists; I find seeing what other people are thinking and how they are thinking helps me to understand things and have new ideas.
      I hope this helps
      Pam 🙂

      Hi iisnutworth.

Oh, a toughy! Hmmmmmm, can I be cheesy and say my family? My Dad grew up on a farm which is still being run today by my uncle and it’s because of them that I love animals so much. And it’s my passion for animals that influenced my decison to study animals and their diseases.

My boss during my masters was also hugely influential. I didn’t think that I would ever be able to be so involved in the veterinary world but he showed me how I could do it and he’s the reason I’m doing the job I am at now!

      Hope that answers your questions!

      Hiya

I would have to say my Dad firstly, he is a geologist and was always trying to get us really interested in how the earth is formed and rocks and shells, stuff like that. He encouraged me and my sister and brother to find things out for ourselves and carry out silly experiments when we were young so I think that is why I am so nosy about everything (I think all scientists are!!:))

Then my tutor at uni during my degree gave us really cool assignments during out tutor group sessions and thats what made me want to stay in science some more.

Finally my current boss is amazing she is married with two kids and still manages to be really sucessful coming up with lots of ideas. She is quite inspirational especially for girls and it can be kind of hard for us to see how we can fit everything we want into life.

      Thanks for your question 🙂

      Hi iisnutworth,

If you mean in terms of science, I would also say supervisor. I actually have two supervisors, and they feed my enthusiasm because they both have a gift of seeing the ‘bigger picture’. Sometimes in life, and especially science, you become completely interested in some small detail and forget the wider issue. Being influenced by these guys to re-focus and keep trying when things fail really is a big help.

Otherwise, I’m totally influenced by television, films, music and video games (aren’t we all?). Also, the news and adverts, both of which are designed to influence your thinking in certain ways. It’s easy to appreciate the influences we know about, but I expect a lot of what people think and do may be directly influence through some very strange things!!

I hope this helps a bit, please comment if you have any ideas too..

      Daz
