      Hi skillsthatkills

Well everybody can help pollution by doing a little bit. The main thing for any individual person is just not to litter! It’s so easy to throw things away properly and it sucks when you see human rubbish littering a landscape. My university is surrounded by many lakes and small streams, and they often collect some bad litter pollution. That’s very bad to see.

Otherwise, we try to make our lab energy efficient, so as little energy is waste as possible. The lights here are motion activated, and machines we don’t always use are switched off. I admit thought, many science labs have machines which consume huge amounts of electricity.. But we cannot avoid that I think!

      I hope this helps,

      Daz

      Heya skillsthatkills,

Well I don’t think that my research will help with pollution but I think what Daz says is right, we all have to do a little to stop polution. I’m a recycling queen, I flip out if anyone throws a can of coke in the bin and have been known to go through our bin at work and take out any paper waste.

Hopefully, very soon, I want to go paper free which would mean I wouldn’t use note books or paper for anything (or for nearly everything) and would do everything on my computer, laptop and even……an ipad or tablet…but i’m not that rich yet. I’ve just got a Kindle (an e-book reader) for my birthday which is really cool and means I won’t be buying paper books anymore 😀

      Hi skillsthatkills,
Presently my work will not have an impact on pollution. So like the others I also try to reduce my personal impact on the environment. I turn machines and lights off whenever I can, I recycle all that I know that I can recycle and I drive as well as I can to reduce pollution.
So although these things are not much if everyone does them we can make a difference.
      Pam 🙂
