      Hi meganoshaughnessy,
I wanted to be a vet before I wanted to be a scientist so this really directed me into a science career helping animals. I work on what I work on because I find the virus very interesting. The fact that what I am doing could hopefully help to save pigs helps to motivate me to discover more stuff.
      Hope that helps
      Pam

      Hi again Megan and Millyhill,

I have always loved animals and my parents loved them too so we always had cats and dogs growing up!

But the reason I studied Microbiology and then specialise in animal diseases is because when I was 14 my pony got very sick with a disease called Strangles (really nasty horrible respiratory disease) and from then on I’ve wanted to learn more and more about how animals get sick and what I could do to try and stop it!

Like Pam, I think I always wanted to be a vet too but once I started studying diseases I realised that I had a huge passion for trying to figure them out and try and research ways of controlling them! I knew that if I studied animal diseases that I might have the potential to help animals worldwide which would be pretty cool!

Do you guys like animals? Would you like to work in science looking at ways to help animals?

      Cat
