  Heya Nettyra,
  
  Well I didn’t know the answer to this so I had to do a little bit of research so this is what I found out:
  
  They can do this nifty trick because they have a load of little bristles or hairs on the bottom of their feet. And while we see walls as smooth , well not if my Dad did the plastering, but they are actually full of tiny little bumps. The insects use these bumps as footholds for their tiny bristles and that is how they can climb walls!
  
  Insects often have little claw-like structures at the end of their legs too and they use these to hold on to different types of surfaces. Also some insects do make use of a kind of sticky adhesive substance especially for smooth surfaces!
