      Hi matthewbakerwtflolz,
I have a space in a lab that I work in, it is not my own as I work at an institute. Its a bit like having a space in a science lab at school. I occasionally work from home when I have to do reading or paperwork but when I have to work with my cells I have to do it at the lab.
I hope that answers your question
      Thanks
      Pam 🙂

      Hi Matthewbakerwtflolz,

Because I work on data collected from animal disease outbreaks I don’t really need a lab! All i need is a computer! So i work in a big office with five other students like me on big powerfull computers. Because I don’t need a lab, the great thing is that say if I really don’t feel like getting out of my jammies someday I can stay at home and ever work from my bed!

But in the building my office is in, there are loads of labs all around me and they work on all different things from leukemia to sarcoids in horses to scrapie in sheep to chicken welfare!

It would be pretty cool to have a lab in my house though….it reminds me of the cartoon Dexter….i’m not sure if it is even on tv anymore!

Hope that gives you an idea of what we get up to,

      Cat

      Hi Matthewbakerweflolz,
I work in a big Microbiology lab attached to a big hospital with 15 other members of staff. My lab is a clinical lab; we carry out routine lab investigation of patients samples coming from the wards and GP’s. The lab is divided into different sections like MRSA, Molecular lab, enteric, blood sample investigation, respiratory. Each member of staff rotates through these sections every 4 weeks rota.
I do out of hour on call services from 5pm to 9am which permits me to work from home late in the night when there is no emergence to attend to.
      hope this ansmwers your question.

      Johnson.

I work in a lab at a university. I don’t think my flat would be big enough to house my experiments!! 🙂 Also probably not a good idea to keep flu in your kitchen either 🙂

      Hi Matthewbakerwtflolz

Depends; all my experiments are in a lab which is in the chemistry department of the university. But if I am writing anything (reports, papers) or doing some maths or mathematical modeling I can go anywhere, and often do stay home. I imagine most people write their thesis (basically a huge science report) in bed.. But that might just be what I’m planning 😀

      Hope that helps,

      Daz
