      Hi fredster1 (and courty635)

Yes, on average I think I do. It’s given me many opportunities and I have learnt a LOT about myself and life, and science and my subject area (antibiotics). But it can be stressful, and sometimes unrewarding. Also you need to be very self-motivated, which can be hard when things keep failing.

Does that answer your question? Feel free to ask anymore

Hi Fredster1, Courty635, hollyellard, kennerz, megzzb and mikeneary9

Same as Daz really, my job can be great one minute and incredibly frustrating the next. I love working in science because you really do learn new things everyday! But sometimes, you really wish you knew it all! Because I have a goal Iโ€™m aiming for (getting to call myself Dr. Cat) Iโ€™m working pretty hard to get my research finished, so much so I totally forgot today was Monday! Sometimes research feels like youโ€™re living in a time-warp! There are certain aspects of my work I love, such as travelling to conferences, presenting my work, having great chats (and a couple of drinks) with researchers from all over the world, and maybe tagging on a bit of a holiday at the end if Iโ€™m somewhere nice. This was particularly true when in the space of a month I travelled to South Africa and New Zealand. I was totally zonked by the end of that month but it was so worth it! Anyways, my job has its good bits and its bad bits but thankfully the good bits outweigh the bad bits every time! ๐Ÿ˜€

      Hope this anwers your question!

Hi fredster1, courty635, hollyellard, kennerz, megzzb, mikeneary9 and matthewbakerwtflolz,
I love my work!!! As the others had said there are ups and downs. But I really love the fact I get to plan my own work I get to have my own ideas and test them out and see what happens. I also love the people I work with, I am a people person and the people I work with are truely a great bunch! When experiments don’t work it can be a real downer especially if I can’t work out whey they are not working but I don’t let it keep me down for long and it doesn’t stop me enjoying the job.
So in summary I LOVE MY JOB ๐Ÿ™‚
      Hope that helps
      Pam ๐Ÿ™‚

      Hi fredster & all,
In all, I do enjoy my job as each day brings new challenges and opportunities. Some days could be hetic that I feel like doing something different, especially when I put in more time trying solve one problem. But, that never prevented me from adding other varieties to bring out the best and finding the solutions to problems. My job involves different sections which rotates every 4 weeks and around the sections (molecular lab, enteric lab, blood culture, respiratory lab, MRSA, urines, Andrology) . All these sections brings new and challenging stuffs which makes my job interesting. Because of the flexibility and the shift patterns, it gives me time off to relax, exercise and be with families. As Darren puts it , you need to be very self-motivated and determined to make it a life time career and enjoy it.

      Hope that answered your question?

I am open for more questions.

      Johnson.

      Hiya

Yes definatley enjoy my job! Everyday is something different so you don’t get bored. There are lots of opportunities to travel with science, visiting other labs going to conferences (I got to go Australia and Finland during my PhD and have been to America and Hong Kong in this currentl job). But like Darren says it can be hard work and stressful at times too but I think most jobs have their ups and downs.

      Thanks

      Holly
