• Question: Do other scientists support you in the lab (eg. does some one analyse your results?) or do you do all the work yourself?

      Hi rositafroghawk

Good question! I am not supported by anybody else unfortunately. I make and analyse my own results. I have two supervisors though, who are super and teach me new things and help analyse my results with me, if I need. Sometimes I have taught students in similar projects, but so far nobody else has worked with me on my project..

I hope this helps, please let me know if I can answer anything else,

      Daz.

PS Froghawk? What an interesting creature!

      Hi Rositafroghawk,

As a PhD student, we have to show that we have what it takes to be good researchers who can carry out good research by ourselves. But saying that, there are always people around me who are willing to give me a hand if I ever have a problem and my supervisors are always very good for giving good advice on what my next bit of research should be. But yup, like Daz, I need to do all the work myself!….Why do you ask? Are you offering to analyse some of my simulation output? 😛

      Hello Rositafrogkawk,
My lab is a diagnostic and routine, so we work as a team, supporting each other especially when under pressure. Individually, we are assigned sections where we work alone , carrying out different tests and analysis. When I am faced with difficulty problems , I do consult my line manager or the medical consultants who will advice me on what action to take. Most times i do all work myself.

      Hope this helps?

      feel free to ask more.
      Johnson.

      Hi rositafroghawk,
I do most of my own work. I get “support” mostly through advice then I have to do the work and analysis myself. I do occasionally get help with the more complicated maths like statistics but I have to make sure I understand it all :$ even if I get someone else to help me do it.
So mostly I do it all myself 🙂
      Hope that helps
      Pam 🙂
