No I wanted to be a journalist and actually started doing different Alevels at the start of sixth form but I changed soon after the start as I really missed my science lessons. I get to do quite a bit of science writing in my job so its abit like journalism after all!!
Hi laurenmarie14, haileybailey2, minion2 and callis!
I think I’ve always wanted to work with animals so in some way i’d always be a scientist. But it wasn’t until I started studying A level biology that I knew this is what I wanted to do!
What do you guys want to do when you leave school?
Hi laurenmarie14, haileybailey2, minion2 and callis,
No I didn’t want to be a scientist when I was a teenager. I this is partly because I didn’t really know what “being a scientist” would involve. I had no idea that jobs like the one I do now existed! I wanted to be a vet and went to university to try and become a vet. It was at univeristy that I realised I prefered science and it was also at university that I learnt what “being a scientist” involved. I love being a scientist and I am glad I happened upon it! This is part of the reason I am taking part in this because I want to try and help you guys to find out what it is like to be a scientist!
Hope this helps
Pam
Hi laurenmarie14, callis, haileybailey2 and minion2
No, I actually had no idea where I was going in life – and that is pretty much true now. I wanted to do law or medicine, but decided against both and chose something ‘in the middle’. The main thing is that no matter your age or qualifications you can _nearly_ always enter a career later, so law and medicine aren’t out of my reach yet if I chose them now.
I don’t regret much though, if that helps!!
Does that help? Remember, do start early if you’re really into something, and remember that even unpaid work experience can really help begin some careers!
